Rutland will get a chance to weigh in on crime

Posted: Updated:

The Rutland community will get a chance to weigh in on crime concerns in their city.

City police have scheduled a second public hearing Oct. 25 for people to talk about their concerns in the wake of a crash that killed a local teen.

The Rutland Herald reports that the department is awaiting word about a $50,000 grant through the state's corrections department to staff a full-time crime analyst. That person will be tasked with drilling down into the city's criminal activity, with a focus on drugs.
