CONWAY, N.H. -

New Hampshire Fish and Game workers have relocated a bear spotted in a tree over a school bus stop in Conway.

The 325-pound black bear was about 60 feet up a pine tree. Neighbors said it had been there for several days. Police guarded the school bus stop Wednesday morning while students waited for their bus, and then moved the stop while biologists figured out how to safely trap and transfer the bear.

Wednesday, state biologists decided to tranquilize the bear and move it.

The North Conway Fire Department helped biologists get a clear shot with the tranquilizer gun from their ladder truck, as people gathered to watch. The drugged bear fell from the tree and the bear-moving crew caught it in a net. They then lifted the bear into a trap and took it to northern New Hampshire to be released.

Fish and Game says the male bear was about 5-6 years old and in good health.
