Brock criticizes Shumlin for discussing daughters' pot use

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

At a press conference Thursday, Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Brock criticized the governor's decision to discuss his daughters' marijuana use on statewide public television.

During the VPT debate, Gov. Peter Shumlin offered up the fact that both he and his daughters have illegally used the drug. Brock says this shows a lack of leadership.

"I think it would be surprising to 20-21-year-old woman the fact that she smokes marijuana that it would be announced by her father on public television to a statewide audience, that's what I found surprising," Brock said.

"They're great college students, they're doing great in school, they make great judgments, occasionally they don't make good judgments, any parent can say your kids don't always make the judgment you wish they would make and when they do they tell me," said Shumlin, D-Vermont.

Brock also criticized the lack of funding in place for Green Mountain Care, the lack of oversight on the court system and the governor's new land deal.
