The University of Vermont and UMBC women's soccer teams played through 110 minutes, but neither team could find the back of the net as the America East match ended in a 0-0 tie.
Both teams pick up a point in the America East standings with the draw. The Catamounts move to 2-11-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the league. UMBC is 1-9-4 on the year and 0-3-2 in the conference.
Both goalkeepers had outstanding efforts in their respective nets. Lauren Kadet finished the game with 10 stops for the Retrievers, while Ally Ramos was credited with seven saves for Vermont.
With 9:20 remaining in the second half, UMBC had its best scoring opportunity of the game. Ramos saved Preslie Quaranta's shot with a diving, fingertip stop to her right.
With eight minutes left in the first overtime session, UVM's Bre Pletnick had a one-on-one look at the net, but Kadet came up with a diving stop on her shot from eight yards out to snuff out Vermont's best opportunity.
Vermont returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 14) when it travels to Albany for a 2 p.m. match at the Turf at College Park in Schenectady, N.Y.
