N.H. soldier dies in Afghanistan

Sgt. 1st Class Ryan James Savard

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

An Army Green Beret with New Hampshire roots has died in Afghanistan.

Twenty-nine year-old Sgt. 1st Class Ryan James Savard was shot Friday according to a Defense Department release. Savard was originally from Jefferson, N.H.

Savard was killed in the Khanabad District, Afghanistan, from small arms fire while on patrol during combat operations. He was stationed out of Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
