NEWPORT, Vt. -
Revision Military plans to double its workforce at its helmet plant in Newport.
Senator Patrick Leahy's office tells WCAX the company will increase employment from 40 to 80 people by the end of the year. Revision recently landed a new 21-million dollar contract to make more than 90-thousand new helmets for the U.S. military. The company says that contract and existing orders from the Pentagon and other customers will require a larger workforce.
The Newport plant was in danger of closing just a few months ago. That's when Revision stepped in to purchase the facility from MSA North America.
