The peaceful sounds around Myk Martinez's home help put him in the right state of mind.
For this Bristol artist, picking him his pencil and drawing is his form of meditation. The self-taught artist sells cards and prints of his simple yet humorous cartoons through his company, Goldfish-Ink.
"I get a chuckle out of my own stuff and I figure if I can laugh at it then that's good," Martinez said.
But there is more than just humor behind these drawings. Martinez suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
"I had a very rough childhood-- a dad that wasn't so great to me, so I've suffered anxiety since then, so art is a way of escaping that," he said.
Making others chuckle with his art helps Martinez cope. "I think what I like is making people happy and having people watch me make art makes them feel good," he said.
And it's not just Moo Ha-ha's, what he calls his cow drawings, that he sketches. His work covers everything from dinosaurs to portraits.
Myk Martinez: I don't know what it is about those eyes. Don't they looked stressed out?
Reporter Gina Bullard: A little bit they're making too many pizzas or something.
"I've never wanted to be a millionaire, or be a business but just make enough to not have a real job," Martinez said with a laugh.
He admits he might not get rich but the laughs from his Made in Vermont cartoons are worth it.
