A convicted killer could have to wait another year to learn his fate.
32-year-old Eric Williams pleaded guilty to setting a Milton house on fire back in 1999, killing a woman and her three grandsons. He is serving 40 to 60 years behind bars, but a judge later ruled he deserved a new sentence because of ineffective counsel -- but not a new trial.
Now attorneys in the case have agreed to forgo a resentencing hearing until after the Vermont Supreme Court rules on whether he deserves a new sentence -- which may not be for another year.
Family of the victims tell the Burlington Free Press this delay drags on the process -- and they just want the case to be over.
