Francois Delattre
ESSEX, Vt. -
The French Ambassador to the United States, Francois Delattre, is visiting Vermont this week.
During a meeting this spring, former Governor Jim Douglas pushed him to schedule a visit to the Green Mountain State. The visit comes as the Vermont Council on World Affairs celebrates 60 years of service.
In Essex Tuesday, The ambassador emphasized the importance of the alliance between the United States and France. "Lets never forget that our two nations, the U.S. And France, owe each other for their very existence as free countries," Delattre said.
He added that French and American relations have never been stronger and that it's important that the two countries lean on each other in difficult times. He is meeting Wednesday with business leaders from the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce.
