One local Red Sox recently had the experience of a lifetime. Bruce Morrissey, a 57-year-old life long Sox fan and season ticket holder from Milton, was selected, as part of a fan appreciation event, to take batting practice at Fenway Park last week.
Morrissey, who was also given a tour of the Red Sox dugout and locker room, took five swings against a pitching machine. He said he made contact on two of them, and one of this might have been a bloop single to the outfield.
Morrissey also decided to turn the event into an opportunity to raise some money. He is taking donations with all the proceeds going to the Patient Fund of the Cancer Treatment Center in Berlin. He has a facebook page set up called "Bruce's Batting Practice at Fenway Park". He's accepting donations until the end of the month. A perfect way to cap an amazing experience.
