Middlebury students pull off hoax after Dalai Lama visit

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A hoax by student activists at Middlebury College.

A group pushing the school to invest its endowment in more socially responsible ways sent out a press release last week that appeared to be from the Middlebury College Communications department. It said that in honor of the Dalai Lama's visit to the school -- it would get rid of its holdings in arms manufacturers, and Channel 3 news reported that. But the school did not send out the release - or dump the investments. Seven Days newspaper says the kids came clean this week.
