Arrest made in Waterbury shootings

WATERBURY, Vt. -

Police in Waterbury have made an arrest in connection with a pair of late night shootings.

Shortly before midnight Friday police responded to shots fired at the Waterbury Pharmacy and saw a man wearing a dark hoodie running away. Within minutes of that incident someone was also caught on camera shooting at a Merchant's Bank ATM in town.

"They came in the store, went back to the pharmacy, grabbed whatever they needed and left," said Jerimy Thivierge with Waterbury Pharmacy.

"I was frustrated that the alarm didn't go off and I was also a little relieved. I really think my officer would have been in front of that doorway when that person tried to come out with that pistol. There very well could have been a shoot out," said Waterbury Police Chief Joby Feccia.

Friday afternoon police say 20-year-old Cory Miner of Waterbury confessed to shooting the ATM machine. He is also a suspect in the pharmacy burglary. Pharmacy staff are still trying to determine what drugs are missing from their inventory.
