WATERBURY, Vt. -
The state is preparing for a mournful sendoff at the former state hospital next weekend.
The event it's being held in the Brooks building, the most recent part of the hospital to hold patients before Irene destroyed the complex.
There will be an art installation, public forum and closure ceremony. Former patients, staff, and their family and friends are invited to come commemorate the event.
Organizers say this is a serious, mournful reflection on the loss of the state hospital before the building is destroyed later this winter.
