BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The spotlight is on early education at a conference this week at the University of Vermont.
This is the largest gathering of early childhood educators in the state. It is sponsored by the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children. There were over 400 people attending Friday. The goal is to improve what they know about working with young children and get some time to network with each other.
"In early childhood we are working on building healthy brain architecture in young children. And so what we know from science is the best way to do that is by really having great interactions with them, having fun with them and when you do that you are really wiring the brain for future learning and that is the goal of early childhood really," said Melissa Riegel-Garrell, VAEYC's Executive Director.
Conference participants are figuring out very creative strategies and ways to really engage with the children they work with every day. The conference continues Saturday.
