Legacy of the Vt. State Hospital

Tropical Storm Irene forced the closure of the state hospital in Waterbury.  The state plans to build a new hospital in Berlin.  In the meantime dozens of mental health patients -- are scattered in facilities around Vermont.

The flood waters marked the end of a turbulent time for the state hospital over the 120 years it was open.  The state plans to tear down the hospital this winter and this weekend people will gather to look at its legacy.

Kristin Carlson spoke with Representative Tom Stevens (D-Waterbury), one of the organizers of "Going to Waterbury: An Elegy."
