Vandals strike Old Man of the Mountain memorial

FRANCONIA NOTCH, N.H. -

Vandals struck the Old Man of the Mountain memorial in New Hampshire.

The Franconia Notch site is both a memorial to the iconic mountainside and armed forces veterans.

The Union Leader reports vandals graffitied a granite bench at the plaza and destroyed an interpretive sign.

Two American flags were also stolen from the veterans' memorial stone.

Officials say they were able to erase the graffiti.
