HINESBURG, Vt. -

The investigation into a suspected meth lab in Hinesburg continued Wednesday, as a authorities started the chemical clean-up process.

A search warrant filed in federal court Wednesday reveals that police believe 19-year-old Jacob Berino was making methamphetamine in his backyard of his Hinesburg home. Police were called to 1896 Texas Hill Road after Berino's mom called 911 Tuesday evening, reporting that something blew up in her son's face and he couldn't see. Berino was taken to Fletcher Allen and treated for burns. He is listed in fair condition. According to the affidavit, Berino's clothes were covered in ammonia and the police found meth making ingredients in his room -- and hidden some 20 yards behind the home.

Hazmat and fire crews spent the day dismantling the lab. Investigators on scene called it a complicated clean-up.  Neighbors were not evacuated but the road was closed to through traffic. Federal authorities say they've now taken over the case.

No criminal charges have been filed against Jacob Berino. Federal prosecutors say that could change depending on what the evidence shows.
