BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Lyme disease is a common bacterial infection that spreads through the bites of black-legged ticks. Children are at a higher risk of getting a tick bite -- making them a higher risk for getting this tick born illness.
The Vermont Health Department is working to make children aware of ticks and how they can prevent themselves and others from getting bit.
Mike McCune spoke with infectious disease epidemiologist and public health educator, Erica Berl, and Shari Levine. Both are helping to manage a new Lyme disease project just for kids.
