BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A long-planned recreation path across northern Vermont has cleared the environmental review process.
The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is a proposed 93 mile path from Swanton to St. Johnsbury along an old railroad line. A land use permit has now been granted to allow construction to begin on 44 miles of the trail. That includes stretches between Swanton and Sheldon, Cambridge to Morristown and Danville to St. Jay.
The trail will be open to hikers, bikers, skiers, horseback riders and snowmobilers.
