BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -
Emergency officials are getting ready for Sandy to hit here in some form next week.
Personnel met Friday to finalize protocols for possible evacuations, school closures and temporary shelters. Town officials say Irene may have caught them off guard, but they're better prepared for this storm. They're urging residents to prepare for the worst and hope it's an overreaction.
"If you weren't impacted by Irene, it doesn't mean that you may not be impacted by this storm, so we're asking everyone -- be prepared, take precautions, be prepared for power outages for several days, get your potable water, make sure you have food, know where your family's at," said Barbara Sondag, Brattleboro's Town Manager.
They're also asking the public to follow evacuation orders and obey all road closures if the storm hits.
