100 NH Guard soldiers put on active duty

Posted: Updated:

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch declared a state of emergency Monday morning ahead of Sandy's arrival.

That allows the state to apply for federal disaster relief and gives the governor more authority to deal with the storm. One-hundred New Hampshire Guard soldiers have been put on active duty and utilities are getting outside help to prepare for prolonged power outages and tree damage from the storm.
