Marinas across our region were busy pulling boats out of the water.
At Mallett's Bay in Colchester only a few boats were still in the bay. The Moorings manager Sean Gowland told us their last boat was pulled just before noon. He said it is a good thing the big storm came at the end of the boating season.
"It happened to coincide with a good time of year for us. We got all of our boats out and we feel we are pretty well prepared. Had it hit during the height of the summer it would have been a lot different, but no time is great -- but its but it could have been a lot worse timing wise for us," Gowland said.
But just because the boats are out of the water does not mean they are safe. Gowland said they will double check the blocks and stands the boats are on to make sure they are as tight as they can be.
