Sandy's peak gust recorded on Mt. Washington

On New Hampshire's Mount Washington, Sandy clocked the top wind gust of the storm, but didn't break the peak's all-time record.

Gusts recorded at the summit reached 140 miles an hour as the storm hit the Granite State. That falls short of the record 231 miles per hour set back in 1934.

A report from the observatory said Tuesday's weather will not be nearly as severe.
