BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The University of Vermont is holding it's third annual Food Systems Symposium Wednesday.
Faculty from college campuses across the state are getting together to highlight the importance of partnerships between academics and the experiential knowledge in the Vermont community. The schools say partnerships, like that with Fletcher Allen Health Care, are essential to increasing innovative research opportunities and assessing community needs. The ultimate goal is improving global food systems and reducing hunger.
"It's part of the future. It requires behavior scientists, philosophers, production, a wide range of folks working together in a trans-disciplinary way to get to solutions to change behaviors and think about what we're doing," said Doug Lantagne, Dean of UVM Extension.
The symposium will take place until 4 p.m.
