A Hinesburg man injured in a backyard explosion last week now faces federal charges for making methamphetamine.
In a complaint filed Wednesday in federal court, authorities allege 19-year-old Jacob Berino was trying to make meth when he triggered an explosion in his parents' backyard. Hazmat crews spent the next two days cleaning up the area on Texas Hill Road.
Police say in May Berino sparked another fire while making meth at his grandmother's house next door. The judge ruled that Berino must remain in prison until space opens up in a drug treatment facility.
