Republican candidate for Attorney General, Jack McMullen says Democrat Bill Sorrell illegally coordinated with super PACS during the primary election.
It's an argument that's been aired before. TJ Donovan voiced the same concern this summer but admitted he had no evidence to prove coordination between Bill Sorrell and a super PAC that spent nearly $200,000 to support him.
The issue was punted by the Governor to the state's attorney, who has yet to take any action. McMullen said the lack of action by political leaders fails the public, so he is petitioning a state judge to look into the matter.
"The voters should be made aware of this issue before the election to judge for themselves whether engaging in probable illegal activity disqualifies him from holding the office he seeks for another term," McMullen said.
"It's a frivolous filing, it's unfortunate, its more about publicity than about substance, but we'll defend. I've done nothing wrong here, absolutely nothing," Sorrell said.
The two sides are scheduled to appear in court -- after the election on November 8th.
