Search for Vt. captain called off

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The search for the Vermont captain lost at sea during Hurricane Sandy has been called off.

The Coast Guard said Thursday its search with ships, helicopters, and large planes failed to find 63-year-old Robin Walbridge.

Walbridge, who grew up in Montpelier, was the captain of the replica sailing ship, the HMS Bounty.

The ship went down Monday off the coast of North Carolina.
