Impressive performances by the home teams Friday night set up a one versus two matchup in the Division One football state championship game.
Top seed Hartford blanked number five Middlebury 34-0, while number two BFA-St. Albans ran past third seed Essex 35-6 in the D-1 state semifinals Friday.
It sets up the second meeting in the last three years between the Hurricanes and Bobwhites in the state final. In 2010, Hartford beat BFA-St. Albans 33-0. The two teams were anticipated to meet again in the championship last year, but Middlebury upset the Bobwhites in the semifinals.
Hartford has won the last two D-1 championships and four of the last five. The teams will meet for the title Saturday, Novebmer 10th at South Burlington High School. Game time has yet to be determined.
