Dale Jarvis Junior/File
Dale Jarvis Sr.
A judge has sentenced a northern New York man to 15 years in prison for killing his father, then burying the body behind their house.
Twenty-four year-old Dale Jarvis Junior told the judge that he regrets killing Dale Senior. He says he hit his father on the head with a sledgehammer during a fight over a video game at their home in Chateaugay.
The elder Jarvis was last seen in February. But no one realized he was missing until July. The younger Jarvis was charged with second-degree murder -- but quickly entered a plea deal for manslaughter. District Attorney Derek Champagne says he supported the lesser charge because of the circumstances of the fight and history of violence between the two men.
