MALONE, N.Y. -
The town and the village of Malone, N.Y., will remain two separate communities.
By a two-to-one margin, residents in the village voted not to dissolve the community.
Supporters liked the idea of combining government services with the town to save taxpayers hundreds of dollars each year.
But many feared dissolving the community would eliminate the local police department.
