BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Former Essex H.S. star Paul Bianchi scored in the 57th minute to lift the No. 5-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats to a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Vermont in America East Men's Soccer Semifinal action at Virtue Field on Wednesday.

Bianchi was able to net what proved to be the game-winning goal off a Vermont defensive miscue.  He collected a deflected ball and was able to poke it past UVM goalkeeper Conor Leland for his second goal of the season.

The Wildcats would make the goal stand up the rest of the way.  UNH goalkeeper Travis Worra had a solid effort in net and made six stops, including a nice diving stop on a free kick by UVM's Jonny Bonner in the 84th minute.

Worra posted his seventh shutout of the year, while Leland was credited with three stops for Vermont.

New Hampshire (7-7-5) moves on to face the winner of No. 3 Stony Brook vs. No. 2 UMBC in the America East Championship game.  Vermont closes out the season with a record of 8-5-5.
