Boy raises money for children's hospital

BRADFORD, Vt. -

One year after a horrific accident nearly left him permanently disabled, a 10-year-old is raising money for the hospital that got him back on his feet.

Last August, a tractor pinned down 10-year-old Cooper Simmons of Bradford.

The accident broke two bones in each foot and doctors told him he might not walk again.

But, he's made a speedy recovery -- and organized this year's first annual block walk -- to raise money for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth.

"Last year, I was injured in a tractor accident and I spend a couple of days in CHAD and I'm doing the walk to raise money for CHAD," said Simmons.

Cooper's mom says they raised about 2,200 dollars with the block walk.

Many of the approximately 75 people who walked tonight are Cooper's classmates and football teammates.
