Vt. fatal driver sentenced to home confinement

Posted: Updated:

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who was on probation for causing a crash that killed a pedestrian in 2007 has been sentenced to home confinement after he was found driving again.

Brent Poczobut went to jail in 2008. He was released in 2010 and placed on probation, which included a requirement that he not operate a motor vehicle for two years.

The Rutland Herald reports in July a Rutland County Sheriff's Department corporal said he caught the Fair Haven man violating his probation when he stopped him driving his 2006 Toyota Tacoma - the same vehicle involved in the fatal crash - in a mall parking lot.

The six-month home confinement was ordered to begin on Thursday. Poczobut is not to leave for any reason except for medical reasons.
