The future of New England's museums is the focus of a conference in South Burlington this weekend.
The New England Museum Association says museums are traditionally conservative in their business approach. The conference will look at how a museum can innovate to remain relevant, and compete with pop culture, media, and technology. The Shelburne Museum is co-hosting the conference.
"Shelburne Museum is fairly represented at the conference. We've actually had the group at the museum twice, yesterday and today. They're looking at our climate control our conservation protocol. Shelburne is a little unique in New England because we are a little far north that some of the conditions that we face as we are stewards of the collections in the buildings are somewhat unique. So, we are a good case study for other museums," said Tom Denenberg, the director of the Shelburne Museum.
