BRANDON, Vt. -
A wreath laying ceremony in Brandon Sunday honored American heroes.
The wreath was placed in front of the Brandon Soldier Monument at the junction of Route 7 and Park Street. Members of the color guard and women's auxiliary were on hand to honor those who have died for their country. Those in attendance also paused for a moment of silence to acknowledge prisoners of war and those who are missing in action. The event was organized by the American Legion Post 55.
"We remember how men and women set aside their civilian pursuits to serve their nations cause, defending the freedom of mankind and preserving our precious American heritage," said Post 55 member Aaron Tucker, addressing those in attendance.
The Marine Corps is celebrating its 237th birthday this weekend.
