HARTLAND, Vt. -
A brush fire in Hartland kept fire crews busy Monday afternoon.
Multiple departments were called to Maxham Drive around 2 p.m. According to fire fighters on scene, three acres of woods caught fire on a ridge line near the North Hartland dam. The fire is also relatively close to at least one residential structure but crews say the home and the dam are not in any jeopardy. Fire fighters were using ATV's and bags of water to knock down the fire.
"We've got the left flank and right flank with approximately four or five guys working each flank right now," said Hartland Fire Asst. Chief Scott Bowers. "Other than it being steep and treacherous terrain, right now they are doing pretty good."
At this time firefighters do no know what started the brush fire. The investigation is continuing.
