Windsor H.S. holds 'No Shave November'

Posted: Updated:

Teachers and faculty at Windsor High School are letting their facial hair grow.

The event is called 'No shave November.'  For $5, anyone who can grow a beard can enter. The money raised will go to the American Cancer Society and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  Organizers hope to raise awareness about cancer, especially cancer impacting men.

"The statistics are very high and I guess the best way to go about it is to get tested and get tested early.  It does run in families, so if there is someone in your family who has a history of prostate cancer, or risk factors for prostate cancer, it's better just to get checked out," said the school's Dave Schieber.
The day before Thanksgiving break, participants will shave their beards in creative ways and students will donate 50 cents to vote for their favorite style. That money will also support the fund.
