BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -
Brattleboro police have made an arrest in a deadly overdose case.
The body of Lisa Johnson, 48, was found in an apartment complex on Western Avenue back in September. An autopsy ruled Johnson died after overdosing on heroin.
Police say Christopher Akey, 30, of Brattleboro, sold Johnson the drugs. Police are not saying what lead them to Akey. He was taken into custody without incident.
"Certainly drug abuse is a problem and it is the worst way that is can manifest itself would be a citizen dying of a drug overdose. And that is what happened in this case. So, we are certainly glad to be able to arrest any drug dealer who is selling heroin on the streets, but certainly someone who sold heroin that resulted in an overdose and a death. We are pleased to have been able to close that case," Brattleboro Police Sgt. Mark Carigan said.
Akey will be arraigned on manslaughter charges Thursday. He's being held on a quarter million dollars bail.
