Fixing Manchester's 'Dysfunction Junction'

Posted: Updated:

It used to be called "Dysfunction Junction"-- now traffic at a pair of intersections in Manchester is flowing more smoothly.

The installation of two new roundabouts, which replaced old three-way intersections, is way ahead of schedule. Officials say traffic is moving better and there is less of a tie-up because no one has to wait to make a left turn. The project was slated to take three years, but one year in and construction is almost complete for the winter.

"It's really coming along. Leaving for next spring the idea that we would do the final landscaping, striping and any of the punch list details," said Tricia Hayes, the Function Junction coordinator.

Hayes expects Black Friday outlet shoppers will put the new traffic pattern to its first real test.
