Weybridge town clerk admits embezzling

A fall from grace and likely criminal charges for another Vermont public servant.

Weybridge Town Clerk and Treasurer Karen Brisson resigned from her job this week after informing the select board that she had been embezzling funds from town accounts, an amount estimated by the town at $100,000-$150,000.

The Addison Independent newspaper reports Brisson is apologizing to the community and offering a mortgage on her home to make restitution.

So far she has not been charged with a crime.
