CAMBRIDGE, Vt. -
After numerous noise complaints from
neighbors, the state is removing some rumble strips in Cambridge.
Rumble strips along the side of the
road and rumble stripes along the centerline are designed for safety. They
alert drivers when they stray from their lane of travel. But at the
intersection of Routes 15 and 104, neighbors say drivers are regularly running
over the strips and stripes. The resulting noise is a nuisance.
So, the Vt. Agency of Transportation
has decided to smooth over the pavement in that area.
