A deadly hit on the highway

CHARLESTOWN, N.H. -

A teen from Newport, New Hampshire is dead after trying to move a deer from the road.

The accident was on Route 12 in Charlestown. According to police, 17-year-old Adam Pysz and 32-year-old David Cummings of Claremont stopped their van and were attempting to move the animal from the road when they were hit by a passing car. Police say 24-year-old Benjamin Watkins of Springfield Vermont swerved to avoid the van and struck the two men.

Cummings' condition was not available. Police say it does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
