A community in northern New Hampshire will honor a fallen solider who sacrificed his own life to save others.
Retired Sergeant Major Lawrence Boivin was riding on a float in Texas last week to celebrate Veterans' Day and wounded veterans. The float was hit by a passing train. Boivin threw several people off the float, including his wife, before it was hit by the train.
He graduated from Stratford High School in 1983 and spent the next 24 years in the Army, including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.
On Wednesday, a candlelight vigil will be held at 6 p.m. at the Stratford Public School.
