Thanksgiving is just two days away and as you get ready to prepare your feast, health experts want you to do it safely.
One concern is thawing out that frozen turkey in time for cooking. State health officials suggest thawing it in the refrigerator and say allow 24 hours for every five pounds of meat. If you prefer thawing in cold water, they say allow 30 minutes per pound. Experts warn against defrosting at room temperature because that can encourage bacteria growth.
