PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Workers at the Georgia-Pacific paper mill in Plattsburgh are sending a gift to the victims of Superstorm Sandy.
They loaded more than 50,000 rolls of the bath tissue they manufacture at the mill into a tractor-trailer Tuesday, to donate to storm victims in the New York City area.
"We had a close call last year with Irene and a number of folks in this area were affected and are still rebuilding from that event. So our hearts and thoughts go out to those folks going through a similar situation," said Eric Lanzer, the comptroller at Georgia-Pacific in Plattsburgh.
The truckload of bath tissue worth $25,000 is being delivered to New York and distributed to those in need by Convoy of Hope, a disaster relief organization.
