City signs off on solar project

Posted: Updated:

Rutland City Officials are signing off on a new solar field near the high school.

Green Mountain Power has set their sights on a brown field on Gleason Road for a future 2-megawatt solar field.

The Rutland Herald is reporting the City's Board of Aldermen and the mayor have signed off on a 25-year $765,000 lease for the property called the Stafford Hill Solar Farm.

The project still needs approval from the Vermont Public Service Board.
