Some tips to prepare a safe Thanksgiving dinner. The Vt. Health Department says it's important to make sure your turkey is cooked thoroughly.
They recommend using a thermometer to make sure any bacteria has died off. That means the turkey thigh should be 180 degrees, the breast 170 degrees and the stuffing should be 165 degrees.
Other tips: wash your hands frequently while cooking; wait to stuff your turkey until right before putting it in the oven. And finally, health officials say leftovers can be stored in the fridge for about a week.
