Bradford man killed in woodcutting accident

BRADFORD, Vt. -

Vermont State Police say a Bradford man was killed Tuesday in a woodcutting accident near his home on Werner Road.

Police say Arthur Kaiser, 74, was cutting limbs off a large tree that was already on the ground. When Kaiser cut a limb that was under pressure, the tree sprung from its position and hit him in the head. He died of blunt force trauma.

Police say Kaiser was wearing a safety helmet with a face shield.
