Lowell Mountain wind farm up and running

Posted: Updated:
LOWELL, Vt. -

The Lowell Mountain wind project is 100 percent up and running.

When we visited the Green Mountain Power wind farm last week, 17 turbines were online. But now GMP says all 21 are generating power and sending it to the grid.

That means the project was done in time to meet an end-of-year deadline to receive federal tax credits for the project. GMP says the $40 million tax credits will help lower the cost of power for customers.

GMP tells us the Lowell Mountain Wind Farm will generate enough juice to power 24,000 homes a year.
