Thanksgiving dinner deliveries from the Loyal Order of the Moose in Rutland are on the rise.
Every year the Lodge offers up free meals to the public, including those who can't make it to the hall to eat. Last year, the lodge had requests for 60 meal deliveries, but this year, it's up to 70.
Another increase this year-- the number of volunteers. The people handing out some of the meals were not lodge members, but players on Rutland's Rugby club. The Moose Lodge recently sponsored the team and the players say they wanted to show their thanks by helping those less fortunate.
"I'm getting the sense of appreciation for what I have when I go to people's houses who are maybe not as fortunate as I am and I'm able to help out a little bit by giving them a hot, tasty healthy dinner from the Moose Club," said Christian Brown, a volunteer and rugby player.
Each meal comes with turkey, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and of course, a slice of pie.
